Trailer Polling: Doomsday

I can’t tell… does this trailer look overwhelmingly terrible or extremely bad-ass?

On the one hand, it looks like a bad <i>28 Days Later</i>-style viral apocalypse.  But on the other hand, it’s from the director of <i>The Descent</i>, has some really hot people in it (including Malcolm McDowell) as well as a society of <i>Mad Max</i>-esque fighters driving <i>Mad Max</i>-esque vehicles.

I’m hesitantly going to say it’ll be extremely bad-ass.  Thoughts?

I’ll go ahead and say that it’s going to suck, that way if it doesn’t I’ll be pleasantly surprised instead of let down.

I’m torn, and find myself interested in about 2/3 of the film. I see three major threads:

1. 28 Days/_Resident Evil_/_The Stand_ style supervirus and containment: cool!

2. Mad Max style post-apocalyptic society: cool (seriously, those clips were the parts of the trailer that had me the most stoked)!

3. Ultraviolet/_Resident Evil_ style waif whose thighs are about as big around as my wrists being sent in to kick ass, take names, and save the known world: oh, give me a break. Ugh. I’m all for woman heroes, but they’ve gotta be believable: not necessarily She-Hulk, but not Kate Moss, either. Think Aliens‘ Sigourney Weaver, or G.I. Gane‘s Demi Moore, or even Tomb Raider‘s Angelina Jolie.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed, but I’m afraid it’s going to be horrendous.
