I love squirrels

I have a huge place in my heart for friendly rodents. Rats, mice, squirrels, pretty much any kind. Except hamsters, the evil bastards.

This weekend I got to visit the wonderful squirrels at the Devil’s Punchbowl state park on the Oregon coast. The squirrels there have been extremely spoiled over the years by picnickers and have become extremely friendly.

I took a bunch of pictures, of which I’ll only trouble you with a couple.

wow. I can’t believe they actually come up to you looking for food. They are spoiled. At my school, there are an abundance of squirrels but they don’t do that. At my school, there are black squirrels which are rare since most squirrels are greyish tan.

I’m sure you could get them to do that with some coaxing. These squirrels were still a bit skittish, not actually coming up to you for food unless you were obviously offering. It took some luring to get them out in the open initially. Once they were within reach of raisins and nuts, they didn’t care as much.
