My copies of Caster's Blog finally arrived today, which means it is once again time for the nyquil.org Book Club. This club is exactly like Oprah's book club, except that in addition to telling you some books you should read, I give free copies of them to you1 as well.
The Prestige by Christopher Priest. This is one of the 'dueling magicians in 19th century London' stories I've mentioned in the past, this being the one I actually liked. Very enjoyable.
The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. This book is a very clever and entertaining little book which explains concepts of Taoist eastern philosphy using Winnie the Pooh stories as illustrative concepts. As a bonus, this book also has the interesting side-effect of explaining the Winnie the Pooh stories using concepts from Taoist eastern philosophy. I'll never think of Winnie the Pooh the same way again. Very enjoyable and interesting.
1: Rules and regulations: There is only one copy of each book up for grabs. If you want any or all of the books listed here, simply email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and you'll be entered in the random drawing. I will pick a winner for each book on Tuesday March 14th, and will pay to ship them to the address which you will have thoughtfully provided in your email to me.
