Santa Needs a Little Help This Year...

Dear Blog-o-sphere,

If you were a 14 year old boy at the Children’s Home Society of Washington who wanted “Bionicles or anything he can build,” which particular Bionicle set would you prefer? Or would you perhaps prefer some K’NEX, or some LEGO/MEGABLOKS?

I didn’t know what exactly “Bionicles” were, but I figured it’d be an easy gift to pick out. I was wrong.

Any advice on what the best gift to buy a build-minded anonymous 14-year-old might be?

Go with the K’Nex, I think? We have a K’Nex set but it’s too advanced for our 9-year-old. He needs some plain old Legos. Or maybe some specialized Legos—I saw somewhere they make Lego r/c cars.

Lego r/c cars sound maddening. With the way I drive, I’d be having to repair them every few minutes..

(This is the reason the expensive r/c helicopter I shelled out for years ago is in the garage gathering dust.)
