Confession: Despite all my anti-Digg feelings and advices, I’ve found lately that I’m using Digg’s iPhone interface to find interesting things to read on the go with a lot more regularity than I do with Google Reader’s iPhone interface.

I’m up to Sept 11th in my Google Reader, and find that I’m scrolling and scrolling and not really seeing all that much that interests me. Compare that to Digg, where I find at least one of the entries on each page read-worthy. I’m not sure what that says.

Is it still OK to hate Digg whilst enjoying the fruits of it?

Know what drives me nuts? Blogs and news sites that include little “digg this,” “fark this,” “slashdot this” links at the bottom of every post.

Wanting your content to be seen by as many eyes as possible is one thing, but this sort of pandering is really uncalled for.

People who want to “digg” it are going to already have mechanisms in place to easily do so; baby-stepping them with a little button is just plain insulting.

Next they’ll probably take this hand-holding to the next level by just making it automatically “digg” the article every time someone views it.

That’d sure save everyone the trouble of clicking the links — and more importantly, save me the trouble of having to look at them. Bring it on.
