I’ve decided that if I ever intend to produce Fair Use TV, I need to get off my butt and get my art skillz up to par. I’ve always had trouble producing likenesses of actual people, so I’m going to try to make more of an attempt to get good at it. When you realize that FU TV is comprised entirely of likenesses of actual people, and that my voice impressions are even worse than my art, you begin to realize that the visuals will have to carry the brunt of the recognition factor to the table. (This is of course leaving context out of the equation; I have high hopes that the context will be able to give me a little bit of recognition factor boost, because as you’ll soon see, I need every bit of help I can get.)

With that in mind, I’m going to be posting my craptastic attempts at likenesses and caricatures here. The idea being that my embarrassment will help motivate me into getting better at it. Here’re tonights results:

This is the only one that I think is remotely decent, and I only found it in my sketchbook tonight, I actually did it a few months ago. In case you can’t tell—which is extremely likely—this is supposed to be Penn Jillette.

According to JoBlo, there is actually some kind of effort underway to get a movie version of Heat Vision and Jack, the failed FOX pilot Ben Stiller produced, into theaters. If you are unfamiliar with Heat Vision, the only way it can really be described is as a parody of 80’s action tv shows… kind of an amalgum of the Six Million Dollar Man and Knight Rider. Jack Black plays an astronaut who gains amazing mental prowess after flying too closely to the sun, while Owen Wilson plays his talking motorcycle. They are held captive by NASA, who just want to use Jack’s mental powers themselves until Jack escapes with the aid of Heat Vision (the motorcycle), only to be chased by Ron Silver (played by Ron Silver… he’s an actor and a bounty hunter…).

There’s a gimmick every episode where Jack gets into some sort of trouble, but only has amazing mental powers when the sun is actually up, forcing him to wait until the glorious moment of sunrise. Suprisingly, FOX decided not to not even prematurely cancel this show, rather to just not even pick it up in the first place. Generally they wait until people like the show before giving it the axe…

If you have never seen this terrible great pilot, I’ve handily provided you with a torrent. In order to view the file you’ll need the XVID codec, and the patience to sit through a bootlegged VHS copy of an unaired pilot. I recommend that you do. I particularly enjoy the intro by Ben Stiller. “Lets switch cameras.”
