Essentially he just proved that the "Google Defense" is, in fact, a perfectly valid argument.
From the site:
The intention of this site is to demonstrate the double standard that was exemplified in the recent Pirate Bay Trial. Sites such as Google offer much the same functionality as The Pirate Bay and other Bit Torrent sites but are not targeted by media conglomerates such as the IFPI as they have the political and legal clout to defend themselves unlike these small independent sites.
UPDATE: Google has blocked this site from searching Google. How retarded is that?
OK. As promised, I now present you with High Strung, which I absolutely insist that you must download and watch. It is 90 minutes long, which pretty much anyone ought to be able to devote to this, but if you are unhappy after spending the 90 minutes, I'll gladly refund your money, and/or you can kick my ass. I'm pretty sure you won't be though, provided you don't mind laughing too much.
A note about quality. 12 year old VHS tapes really suck. All the VHS artifacts really played havoc with the video encoder, so I really had to bargain in my balancing of quality vs size. With an incredibly high bitrate, the picture stayed more true to the shitty VHS degradation, but ended up like 2 gigs. With a lower bitrate, the encoder kind of chokes a bit and we end up with some considerable blocking. On the plus side, the blocking covers up alot of the VHS errors, but on the minus side, it's a bit blocky. Fortunately, since this movie consists almost entirely of one guy walking around his house ranting about hilarious crap, the blocking isn't really that big a deal.
EDIT: File removed to prevent my host from cancelling my account.
I'm pleased to announce that Trey Parker and Matt Stone's superb sitcom That's My Bush will be having a DVD release this fall, which means you will no longer be able to dowload it for free via me (see?). I strive to provide people with the top-notch entertainment that money matters prevent them from seeing, but as soon as those money matters are rectified, I feel it is of the utmost importance to cease and desist this infringing behavior. After all, my goal is to spread the word about great stuff, not keep someone from making some money.
It is my hope that most of the many people who have dowloaded this fine show from me will be purchasing the DVD, and I especially hope that some of you purchasers learned of it from me, creating a sale that otherwise would not have been. If that happens, then this whole copyright infringement thing will have worked out for everyone.
Like always, please steal this material in a responsible manner.
I'm pleased to report that this experiment was pretty successful. I'm going to continue this tradition with yet another fine show that is unavailable commercially in the United States, probably either next week or the week after that -- depending on how soon I get off my ass and start ripping (british) DVDs.
Sean of the Dead's Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg bring you Spaced, a really smart/funny show. Tons of laughs, and some amazing geek culture references. If you liked Sean of the Dead, you'll like Spaced. If not, you still might.
For the next 8 weeks I plan to try something new and exciting -- blatant copyright infringement. But good copyright infringement...
Trey Parker's superb series That's My Bush is sadly still not available commercially (unless you count the fuckers selling bootleg dvds on eBay) and Comedy Central rarely ever airs them. This is a real shame. In addition to being really funny, That's My Bush presents very positive messages and viewpoints on some very controversial subjects. It may seem like just making fun of Dubya, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, George is presented as being dumber than a brick, but this fictional George always learns an important lesson and is better for it.
Whether you like or dislike President Bush, That's My Bush is an enjoyable show with strong moral underpinnings. Well, you have to be able to put up with typical Trey Parker tom-foolery to get the message, but if you've ever gotten the message in an episode of South Park, you'll do just fine.

UPDATED: The DVD will be out this fall, so I am no longer distributing these files. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Here's an RSS feed that you can subscribe to so that you don't miss any episodes.
Oh, while I'm thinking about it, please don't submit this torrent to any of the big piracy sites, I'd like to be able to get through all 8 episodes before I get sued.
