The link http://gizmo5.com/pc/products/mobile in your post does not work and the link http//gizmo5.com/d which Gizmo sent to me also does not work. Is Gizmo5 for Mobile absolutely necessary for making / receiving calls on my Nexus One? If so, where Can I download it from? Thank you.

I just got a Google Nexus One and will have a calling plan with T-Mobile including 500 minutes talk minutes and unlimited internet access. I will use my cellular phone to place and receive domestic calls. Do I need to have Sipdroid in addition to GV and Gizmo5 to make free calls? Will the calls consume my talk minutes or cost me $0.01 per minute for using Gizmo5?

I have a quick point of clarification question. I have the Google Voice App installed on my Motorola Droid. If I install sipdroid on my phone and, in the Google Voice App, change “This Phone’s Number” to my Gizmo number (as opposed to my Mobile number) is this the same equivalent as changing the setting via the web interface? I just want to ensure that I am, for sure, not using airtime minutes.

iphone is great. with the GV account, it will enable you to have free SMS, as well as free calling. just have to know what apps to install plus know how to adjust the setting on the account. there are two apps, one is GV mobile, and the other are Mail notifier.

one way audio is quite common if you have firewalls in the picture. make sure you turn off the firewall, or make it allow port 3261 and a set of udp ports for the RTP.

An unlocked G1 will not work on Verizons network (even unlocked it is still a GSM phone and Verizon is not on the GSM network).

Same here, I just called over and they told me that they won’t sell JUST the G1 data plan – I have to get the minutes as well. Also, the “Internet Only“plan is meant for phones that are not always online (yet, it’s more expensive?). I’m going to talk to a rep tomorrow to see if I can convince them.

Here is an idea (Jer – maybe you can touch on this): If I have Verizon, which has a 3G network, could I use an unlocked G1 on that. Since I wouldn’t care about the minutes, would the GSM/CDMA issue still be present? – (I hope that makes sense)
